What are your store hours?

We’re open MONDAY thru THURSDAY 10am to 7pm. FRIDAY & SATURDAY 10am to 7pm. SUNDAY 11-6. We have slightly shorter hours during the winter months, give us a call at 503-239-7561 for special hours.

Where is Jackpot Records?

We are located in the Hawthorne neighborhood in SE Portland Oregon. Our street address is 3574 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Portland, Oregon 97214. We are two blocks west (towards the Willamette river) from Powell’s Books and The Bagdad Theater & Pub.

You're a record label too, right? Can me or my band be on your label?

We basically do reissues, small vanity projects, and limited edition releases for Record Store Day. Please don't send unsolicited demos & follow up with constant phone calls & emails.

Is Jackpot Records on a bus route?

The #14 will drop you off within a block East or West of 35th and Hawthorne. So catch a ride and pop on by, it runs every 15 minutes or so!

Do you buy used stuff?

Totally, we are always looking for quality used LPs and CDs (and even turntables, receivers, and cassettes).

What’s a good time to bring in stuff to sell.

Anytime!  We have a buyer on hand every day during business hours.   No need to make an appointment  If you can get the records/cd/etc into your vehicle, we can help load them in for you into the shop.  We generally pay up to 1/2 of what we think we can sell the item for, this is an industry standard. We still buy CD's, as long as there is customer demand

Are You Hiring?

We've had the same folks here for years and can't imagine that we will be hiring anytime soon. If you do want to inquire the easiest way NOT to be considered is to email or call us repeatedly. We get between 10-15 "Hey, if you guys are hiring shoot me an email." e-mails and calls a day. At least show up in person and get to know us first.

Do you take gift cards?

Totally! We’ve got Jackpot Records gift cards available in-store and online. You can get them for $25 and above. They never expire and they are as good as cash (but not redeemable for cash).

What is your return policy?

Every once in a while an album escapes the pressing plant a little less pristine than it should be. If this is the case, please contact us before returning the defective product, so that we can know to expect it and can be prepared with a new copy for you. Please note that defective product must be returned within 30 days from date of purchase and should have proof of purchase from Jackpot Records.

Returned product may be exchanged for the same item or returned for a refund. You, the customer, are initially responsible for the cost of shipping the item back to Jackpot Records, but will be reimbursed for these charges once we have received the item back. If an item is purchased in our physical store, please note that it is returnable only for store credit or exchange for the same item, no cash refunds.

Do You sell stuff besides music?

In addition to all the great CDs and LPs we carry, we carry new turntables, record supplies, cleaning supplies, slipmats, speakers (sometimes), books, and collectibles.

Things to remember when selling Vinyl LP's & 7”s

Not all Beatles & Elvis albums (for example) are worth $1,000. Sorry. We wish they were, but unfortunately (for you) & fortunately (for them) they sold MILLIONS of records; meaning there's a ot of them floating around. But if you have a bunch of nice condition rock n' roll, reggae, vintage R&B and soul, jazz, blues, punk/new wave, indie, hip hop, modern composer/avant garde, old-school country & folk music from all over the world, bring 'em on down, we would LOVE to see them! We also like oddball records from tv, movie, baseball & game show personalities, spoken word, and kids records.

*Most* comedy, classical, show tunes, 40’s-60’s crooners’ LPs are a tough sell, but we’re still happy to look at them just in case. Condition is very important & they need to have their covers (for LPs, okay for 7”s to have a generic sleeve) All vinyl needs to be in "very good" or "like new" condition. Very mild, general wear is often okay. If you not sure what you have, bring them in and we’ll gladly take a look at them for you. I have a really big collection.

Do you make house calls?

Yes we do. We define "big" as 400 pieces or more that sound like the kind of stock we are looking for. Distance & scheduling factor into this. You'll have to call to set up a time. (503-239-7561).

Steps that make this process easier for all involved: Have decent lighting. Make clear distinctions as to what you want to sell and what you don't ahead of time. If they are in some kind of order that's just a bonus! We do not bring cash to house calls. Company checks only, no worries they're as good as gold.

But the”book” / “internet” said....

We don't go by what any price guide says. The internet has more or less rendered price guides useless. Selling prices are in constant flux due to demand, availability of reisssues on CD or LP, etc. Items can be $20 on a Monday & $3 on a Friday…. it all depends on who wants the record, when, and what that person is willing to pay THAT day. We go by decades of combined years of experience we have for what any particular LP can be sold for. We have a very well-earned reputation as straight shooters. Do you have a newsletter?

Yep! We usually send it out once a month or so. It contains new release info, news about the Jackpot Records label, and in-store performances.

Can I listen to it before I buy it?

You can check out used records on our in-store player. Just treat the vinyl with care and ask if you need any help. You can also check out most new and used cds …. Just don’t hog the player.

Can I put items on hold?

Any day of the week - Your name & date goes on the item and we hold your items for up to 2 days then out they go.

You guys do the occasional in-store. How do I find out who's coming up as well as other events?

Our Facebook page and Instagram accounts are always a good bet for up-to-the-day info on in-stores, new releases, new arrivals, and other news-worthy notes. You can also sign up for our newsletter.

Do you do special orders?

Yes we do, all day long. There is no way that we can physically stock every CD, LP, DVD or book that we want. It's basic physics. So, if there is something that you are looking for & we don't have it let us know & we'll do out best to track it down. A lot of items we get in about a week or less, some imports & microscopic indies take longer. WE CAN ALSO GET TITLES THAT ARE NO LONGER MADE, SOME ARE VERY REASONABLY PRICED, SOME COST A BUNDLE, THE DECISION IS YOURS AND THEN WE'LL ACT ACCORDINGLY.  

I live out of town now, do you do mail order?

Yes we do. We love doing it & keeping in contact with folks who have moved on. Lots of folks who are signed up on our newsletter order new releases from that list. We get their order together & email them a total & folks usually send us payment via Paypal.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We take CASH, Visa, and Mastercard. We no longer take personal checks.

What is your shipping policy?

All orders will be shipped in mailers designed for the items being shipped, We’re all record collectors here at Jackpot Records and know firsthand the frustration in receiving a great record in terrible packaging. We will pack your items as carefully and lovingly as if we were sending it to ourselves. Please note that we are a small operation that packs each order by hand. We try to be as efficient with this as possible, and typically fill orders within 1-2 days after receiving them.

Unfortunately, we cannot account for how your package was handled once it left our hands. Jackpot Records is not responsible for any lost or damaged parcels shipped via USPS unless additional Insurance or Registered services are purchased and applied at the time your order is placed. If your order has been tracked and marked as "DELIVERED" by the courier service, we consider your order to be delivered, and cannot be held responsible for any loss of your order. If, however, you suspect your order is defective in some way due to manufacturing error, or is missing contents, please contact us to remedy the situation.
