Detroit Rock City is a raucous 1999 coming-of-age comedy built around teenage rebellion, friendship and an all-consuming devotion to KISS. Set in 1978, the film follows four high-school friends and members of a KISS tribute band who are determined to reach Detroit for a concert by their heroes. When Jam's fiercely disapproving mother discovers and destroys their tickets, the friends embark on an increasingly chaotic road trip, resorting to virtually anything they can think of for another chance to get into the show.

Directed by Adam Rifkin, Detroit Rock City combines the structure of a teen road movie with a nostalgic recreation of late-'70s rock culture. Edward Furlong, Sam Huntington, Giuseppe Andrews and James DeBello lead the young ensemble, with Lin Shaye memorably playing Jam's anti-rock mother. Melanie Lynskey and Natasha Lyonne also appear, while KISS and the band's music remain at the center of the story. The soundtrack extends beyond KISS to evoke the period's hard-rock landscape with music from acts including AC/DC and Van Halen.

This two-disc 4K Ultra HD edition brings the cult comedy to the format with an extensive collection of newly produced and archival supplements. New interviews feature director Adam Rifkin, actress Lin Shaye and production designer Steve Hardie. Three separate audio commentaries are also included: one with Rifkin, one with KISS, and another featuring members of the cast and crew.

Additional extras include the "Miscellaneous S**t" documentary, "Look into the Sun" featurette, "Cutting Room Floor," deleted scenes, two music videos and the theatrical trailer. Part teen comedy, part road movie and part celebration of rock fandom, Detroit Rock City captures the lengths four teenage fans will go to for one night at a KISS concert.
