LP version. Silver/gold color vinyl. Jaberdarwin brings together four musicians whose individual paths have crossed some of the more radical territories in contemporary music: Eraldo Bernocchi, from Sigillum S to Metallic Taste of Blood and Obake, with collaborations including Bill Laswell, Harold Budd, Iggor Cavalera, Merzbow and many others ; Colin Edwin, known for his long-running role in Porcupine Tree and currently with O.R.k., as well as projects shared with Bernocchi; Tomas Järmyr, drummer for Motorpsycho and a member of Zu; and Gareth Davis, a bass clarinetist moving between contemporary composition, experimental music and noise, working with artists ranging from Merzbow and Oiseaux-Tempête to composers such as Bernhard Lang and Peter Ablinger. On their debut album The Soft Collapse, these backgrounds converge into a sonic landscape that resists easy classification: where the physical weight of metal meets the space of dub and ambient, the freedom of jazz, the abrasion of noise, and the vocabulary of contemporary music. Rather than seeking compromise between genres, Jaberdarwin allows these forces to collide, overlap and reshape one another. Drawing on the most incisive tenets of art-rock, The Soft Collapse moves between density and space, weight and silence, discipline and instability, carving out a territory that belongs entirely to the four musicians who created it. An undefinable music for an undefined space.
