Recorded in 1959, Jackie McLean’s second Blue Note album, Swing, Swang, Swingin’, more than lives up to its title. It’s a joyful, full-blooded session, with McLean playing with real gusto through a set of standards that still feels fresh and alive.
The quartet is a beauty too, with Walter Bishop Jr. on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass, and Art Taylor on drums. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is presented in stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
