Recorded the same week as House Party and The Sermon in February 1958, Jimmy Smith’s Softly As A Summer Breeze featured the incredible Hammond B3 organist in two different trios with Kenny Burrell/Philly Joe Jones and Eddie McFadden/Donald Bailey for a swinging set covering Thelonious Monk tunes, standards, and originals. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
