Hate Horses is an eccentric genre-bending western that combines frontier adventure, musical fantasy, offbeat comedy, and character-driven drama into a uniquely stylized cult experience. A runaway lounge singer, a wounded bank robber, and his tightly wound hostage become unlikely traveling companions after discovering a mysterious keyboard possessing powers none of them can explain. Their strange discovery sends them racing across the American frontier as bounty hunters, rival outlaws, former lovers, and relentless lawmen close in from every direction.
Blending surreal humor with classic western iconography, the film transforms saloons, desert hideouts, burlesque stages, and outlaw territory into the backdrop for an unpredictable journey filled with bizarre encounters, redemption, and unexpected music. Director Joe Black crafts an imaginative modern western that embraces psychedelic influences while celebrating the mythology of the American frontier.
