Description
This is a pre-order. It will ship on or around 1/9/26.
Olé Coltrane (November 1961) was the final album recorded by John Coltrane under contract with Atlantic Records. Borrowing its flair and texture from Spanish-derived folk songs and an increased interest in African forms, this mono version of Olé Coltrane celebrates its 65th Anniversary in 2026.
The extended title track, driven by two bassists and highlighted by Eric Dolphy's flute, created a mesmerizing energy that pushed his quartet into new territory. The result was one of his most adventurous Atlantic recordings, bridging the freedom of his later work with the lyricism of this era.
Newly broken out as a standalone LP from the Rhino High-Fidelity box set entitled John Coltrane: 1960-1964, all lacquers are AAA cut directly from the mono tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Optimal, with meticulous detailing on the album packaging that includes glossy covers and "tip-on" jackets.
