Thirty years after K went to Number One in the UK, Kula Shaker return to the album in the most direct way possible: a complete new performance. K-Reinkarnate is a full analog re-recording of the original record, cut live to 2-inch tape at Middle Farm Studios and mixed by Peter Miles and Ash Howes, the team behind recent album Wormslayer, the band's highest UK chart placing since the mid-2000s. Recorded live by the original 1996 line-up (Crispian Mills, Alonza Bevan, Jay Darlington, Paul Winter-Hart), it carries thirty years of the band's evolution of these songs, plus two finds from the original sessions: 'Shower Your Love' and 'Drop in the Sea', recorded during the K sessions but left off the finished album, and 'She's So Free', an unfinished backing track rediscovered on tape and completed in 2026 - Kula Shaker now playing alongside Kula Shaker then. A companion piece to the original K, not a replica or reissue, K-Reinkarnate gives longtime fans a new way in, and a younger live audience one too. Lead single 'Govinda' remains the only song sung entirely in Sanskrit ever to reach the UK Top 10. 'We didn't try to recreate K. You can't recreate a moment, only reincarnate it. So we went back to tape, played it live, and let the band we are now sit alongside the band we were in 1996. What came back was the same record, and a completely different one.' - Crispian Mills Named for a 9th-century Indian saint and poet-king, Kula Shaker emerged in the mid-90s fusing British psychedelia with Indian influences and Sanskrit mantra. Debut album K hit UK Number One on singles including 'Tattva,' 'Hey Dude' and 'Govinda,' and the band's run of albums since regrouping, culminating in 2025's Wormslayer, has grown an international audience largely through live touring.
