This release collects the home recorded versions of LoneLady's highly-acclaimed album Hinterland (Warp, 2015). Julie Campbell aka LoneLady wrote, recorded and mixed these songs in her home bedroom studio in a tower block in Manchester across 2011-2013. These versions show the completeness of Campbell's vision; the record fully arranged and realised, even at this formative stage, with a modest armoury of instruments and effects units. It charts the evolution of Campbell's self-taught technical and creative processes, from using a Tascam 4-track, then 8-track, graduating to a laptop and GarageBand, and eventually Pro Tools. It also invites the listener more closely into that small room nestled by the motorway, to reveal the methodology behind the album that people know and love.
