Whether it was his decades-long tenure with thrash metal titans Slayer, his four-album stint with influential experimentalists Fantômas, or his work with prestigious composer/saxophonist John Zorn Lustmord is the Welsh musician widely credited as the originator of dark ambient music. He was initially associated with the industrial scene in the early '80s with asound, built from field recordings, deep bass frequencies, and ritualistic instrumentation. His extensive career as a collaborator and film/game composer, included working with bands such as Melvins, Tool, Nurse With Wound, and Wes Borland, and he has contributed to over forty motion pictures, including First Reformed, The Crow, and Underworld.
