Originally released on CD in 2005, Iwô-Jima Party was the fourth album by Obligaciones, a band from Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) operating in the dangerous territory between punk, garage, '70s hard rock and raw rock'n'roll. But Iwô-Jima Party is much more than sheer force. These ten carefully crafted songs are driven by serrated guitars, a crushing rhythm section, hard-hitting Spanish lyrics and melodies that stay with you long after the initial impact. The album carries the urgency of punk and the weight of classic hard rock, but also something far less common: truly accomplished songwriting hidden beneath all the noise and aggression. The band's musical DNA shares connections with Motörhead, Rory Gallagher, Cicatriz and The New Christs, yet Obligaciones never sound like a mere imitation. They transformed those influences into something unmistakably their own: dark, abrasive, melodic and emotionally uncompromising. The original sessions featured musicians connected to Señor No, MaCarraDa, Los Padrinos, Látex, Vagón de Cola, and Sindicato de Músicos. Produced by Peio Riotegi, the album also includes a ferocious version of Otis Redding's "Love Man." More than twenty years later, Iwô-Jima Party has lost none of its impact. It still sounds urgent, dangerous and remarkably alive. BANG! Records now presents this overlooked Basque punk-rock powerhouse on vinyl for the very first time: newly remastered and strictly limited to 300 copies.
