Brooklyn’s SAVAK release Door Deals & Debt: An Essential Collection From The First 10 Years via their own Peculiar Works label, in conjunction with Ernest Jenning Record Co.
Over the past decade, SAVAK have released seven albums, building a singular catalog of sharp, melodic post-punk driven by restless guitar work and an instinct for experimentation. At the heart of the band are Sohrab Habibion (Obits, Edsel), Michael Jaworski (The Cops), and drummer Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, Enon).
Door Deals & Debt distills those first ten years into a vital collection, tracing SAVAK’s evolution through cinematic Morricone-inspired textures, Velvets-style grooves, and the wiry, angular spirit of guitar heroes like Geordie Walker, Andy Gill, and John McGeoch.
SAVAK occupies a particularly good corner of your record collection—somewhere between Radio Birdman, Omar Khorshid, and One Last Wish.
Made by and for fans of Television, Wire, Mission of Burma, and Magazine.
