Shintaro Sakamoto is a Japanese composer, producer, writer and singer based in Tokyo. He began his career in 1989 as a member of the acclaimed psych/rock band Yura Yura Teikoku, where he played guitar and sang over the course 21 years releasing 10 LPs. His highly anticipated new album Yoo-hoo is set to be released on January 23, 2026 via Zelone Records. Sakamoto previewed the album this autumn with his third U.S. tour along with performances in Mexico City.Yoo-hoo, Sakamoto’s first new album since 2022, reflects his recent live experiences abroad while showcasing a diverse range of sounds, including blues, mood kayō, 1960s soul, surf instrumentals, and funk.
