Eminent Vinyl present this reissue of The Blackeyed Susans' debut full-length album from 1993, All Souls Alive, on vinyl for the very first time. Originally hailing from Perth in the late '80s with a floating lineup that has included everyone from Kim Salmon to Martyn Casey in the mix, the foundation of the band lies in the duo of Rob Snarski and Phil Kakulas. Moving to Melbourne in 1992, by then the band consisted of Snarski and Kakulas and the all-star lineup of David McComb and 'Evil' Graham Lee of The Triffids and Jim White and Warren Ellis from The Dirty Three. It features eight superb originals, most of them co-authored by David McComb, as well as two excellent covers: Leonard Cohen's "Memories" and Johnny Paycheck's "Apartment No. 9." The mixture of Snarski's soaring vocals with the unique membership -- Jim White's jazzy shuffles, Lee's pedal-steel guitar, Ellis's violin screeches and Hammond organ interplay -- lends All Souls Alive a lush and rich Southern Gothic flavor that still resonates today. Newly remastered from the original tapes, it features a four-page booklet with lyrics, photos by Bleddyn Butcher and liner notes by Pat Monaghan. Edition of 500 copies.
